So I've been considering the idea of joining the Army National Guard. Currently the benefits are full tuition, G.I. Bill, and a Kicker (which i qualified for!!!) Plu sother various benefits like, release time of up to three years for a religious mission, as a student I WILL NOT be deployed within the first two years of my college first program and if the ROTC program is an option, then the last two years are secured for non-deployment. The Kicker just means that I get more money in my pocket for anything (prefered to be school payments).
I took the ASVAB today. (Armed Services Vocational Apptitude Battery) Myself and the kid I drove down to the Idaho Falls with both scored the highest in the class 77 of 99. Everyone was shaking our hands and congratulating us and telling us we can do whatever we wanted in the service*. Our recruiter dude (Sergent Jones) was so stinking happy about that. He gave me connections of who to talk to about dropping weight quickly and people who've been through it.
Well, talk to you guys later. Give me a call sometime.
OF COURSE he was excited thats another 2 G's he could get.
So I've been running everynight. Last night I ran around midnight at the same park (porter park) and the sprinklers were on! That was so nice. I think I cut two and a half minutes off my two mile since I got here. My time still sucks. But that's what the military physical fitness class is for. I'm eatting better and less, but I still got a ways to go.
So we got a free National Guard ACU backback, three shirts all different colors but same design, a basketball, subway card, jacket (a real Army style one, not some chinsey crap).
*Whatever we want, short of being the medic. But who wants to do that anyway? Certainly not me!
Since most of Battle Company, second platoon disbanded, we've moved on.
Careers have been launched, schools attended and families started. We're
not the ki...
