Alls well that ASVAB

So I've been considering the idea of joining the Army National Guard. Currently the benefits are full tuition, G.I. Bill, and a Kicker (which i qualified for!!!) Plu sother various benefits like, release time of up to three years for a religious mission, as a student I WILL NOT be deployed within the first two years of my college first program and if the ROTC program is an option, then the last two years are secured for non-deployment. The Kicker just means that I get more money in my pocket for anything (prefered to be school payments).

I took the ASVAB today. (Armed Services Vocational Apptitude Battery) Myself and the kid I drove down to the Idaho Falls with both scored the highest in the class 77 of 99. Everyone was shaking our hands and congratulating us and telling us we can do whatever we wanted in the service*. Our recruiter dude (Sergent Jones) was so stinking happy about that. He gave me connections of who to talk to about dropping weight quickly and people who've been through it.

Well, talk to you guys later. Give me a call sometime.

OF COURSE he was excited thats another 2 G's he could get.

So I've been running everynight. Last night I ran around midnight at the same park (porter park) and the sprinklers were on! That was so nice. I think I cut two and a half minutes off my two mile since I got here. My time still sucks. But that's what the military physical fitness class is for. I'm eatting better and less, but I still got a ways to go.

So we got a free National Guard ACU backback, three shirts all different colors but same design, a basketball, subway card, jacket (a real Army style one, not some chinsey crap).

*Whatever we want, short of being the medic. But who wants to do that anyway? Certainly not me!

Week in review

My first week went well, the only bad thing was the rootbeer incident.
I can't imagine that alot worst could happen now that "The Incident" has happened. But I guess we'll find out. Today I went grocery shopping, still amazed at how much things cost here... Everyday in my military physical fitness class, I find that I get cotton mouth almost instantly. I have NEVER had cotton mouth so regularly and quickly, it's ridiculous. I dont have any one specific though as you can tell, so I'm just kind of throwing out what's on my mind currently. I got some creatine capsules and they direct me to take 7 at a time!!!! THAT'S CRAZY! I think ill start off with two or three.

I'm happy to find that three pancakes it 1.5 pancakes too many now.

I took photos with Liz yesterday, and they turned out terrific! I'm photoshopping some of them to be completely awesome. I offered this sort of deal to my roommate and his girlfriend and he totally wants to do it, but we have wait till she comes up from Utah again. So that's exciting. I already can't wait to come home and brag about college and act all high and mighty about life and such. I'm happy to be working out again, unfortunately I've been spoiled really well the last month or so and I have to start over, but i'm excited, I enjoy my fitness class, and things along those lines. I'm VERY grateful for that class being my last class everyday and not having a regular class afterwards like some of my classmates. A good friend of mine, Cash, (not johnny) has French after working out, and he works out hard, so I cannot fathom how he can stay remotely concious through an entire class. Well I have some science and religion I have been putting off, plus I have to read some for my guitar class, so I'm gonna roll and do that now before I get super tired. IF you have any questions please comment them and I can answer them in a post. I'd like to joke at Emily and say, "Yes, college has change a lot since the days you were in college...wait." hehehe Well, I'm sure I may not get a happy phone call about that one, but oh well. HEY! EM, maybe we can be study buddies!

ok, well, now im actually gonna go, I will write a more coherent post next time, I promise.

Please Sir May I Have Some Bar?

Ok, so let me set the scene...

5 roommates, under one roof, sharing three tv's and only ONE works (duh duh duh). What happens when one roommate pops a bottle of rootbeer near his laptop? Find out, in the real world...REXBURG!

We were watching deformed animals on the animal planet channel, when a single-headed, two faced cat came on, and i lost my rootbeer. literally. i dropped it on my laptop...THIS is the real world folks, not being with spoiled brats, its being with a disgusting laptop with a rootbeer stained screen and a sticky spacebar. The LCDs are slowly drying off, which is nice. i tried cleaning my spacebar, but i think I did it wrong. Ill try again when I have some cleaning solutions. I'm VERY aware of liquids near my laptop now. I'm kinda bummed. But it's getting better, so im not worried.

I'm planning on taking my camera to the temple sometime this week, possibly sunday would be the best day, but I hear the busiest of days is saturday morning, so maybe ill hit during then, get some people in the pictures. That would be nice. I want to start practicing portraiture, I think i'll just start handing out my number to chicks for free pictures or something. OH MAN! THAT is a good idea. I JUST came up with that. Hmmmm, ill develop that idea a little more, but it's a great start.

Anywho, I'm having a good time, on sunday a guy bore his testimony on the lord of the rings. um, I have to buy a stupid device called an I-Clicker for science. SO stupid. Well, im gonna continue cleaning my laptop, and plan some photos for my brand new idea.

Military Physical Fitness, a class I have fours day a week, it's hard, but feels good a few hours later. A couple guys today were throwing up, I dont feel in shape enough to be able to shapen up for the class... But it's good for me. A bunch of people in my class will be going to the gym with me AFTER the class to lift weights, it will be a good encouragement for each other I think.

Anyways, I'm going to clean my room and practice my guitar for class tommorow. Email me everybody. Pass this site around to people, dan, grandparents, emily, and tell everyone to comment. BUT set the example by commenting for yourself!

Night all!

Another Day, Another Bazillion Dollars.

Some kid was telling me yesterday that pretty much after the first week or two, you stop spending real amounts of money. Which made me feel better after I bought a pair of shoes for my military physical fitness class.

So the first day of school! It was exciting, except for the missing my first class part. Wait, did I say that right? Maybe I should tell the WHOLE story first. It all started when my roommate Shawn told me before going to bed that he wasn't setting his alarm because he didn't need to get up until like 1130 or something crazy, so naturally I grabbed the closest of the three cell phones I have and set that alarm. (im borrowing Sarah's old cell while im waiting for my new cell phones SIM card. And I have my english phone.) It turned out I grabbed my English phone and set the alarm for 7:45 A.M. I rolled over and went to bed.

7:45 A.M.~ Alarm goes off, I turn it off and thought about getting in the shower and ended up falling asleep again.
9:58 A.M.~ I wake up, think "uh oh, what time is it?...(wait for it...) 10 o'clock!??!?!!?!?!?!?!?! CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!" I missed my first class and my second is starting in 15 minutes. I jumped up and grabbed everything I needed in one big pile, quietly as to not wake Shawn (who thankfully is a hard sleeper) and I ran to the living room. (side note: Our apartment has no outside facing windows. They either face the indoor pool or someone else's room. So it's pretty dark all the time.) As I ran to the living I thought its pretty dark for 10 o'clock, but then fingured I was still tired, till I got to the living and saw it was REALLY dark and I stepped outside, in only my gym shorts until I could see the "morning" sky and see that it was dark.
Perplexed, I slowed down and walked back in the apartment thinking, "what?" I looked at the microwave and it said 5:45.I dropped my stuff on the couch and went back to bed. I dont even think I had a real thought between the microwave and the bed.

I ended up making it to all my classes today, and feel like I will appreciate them all for what they will teach. I just signed up for a guitar class, we'll see how that will workout, im not bothered if I end up dropping it, but I just want the freaking credit...or become a rock god. Which ever comes first.

I'm really pumped for my military fitness class, four days a week, and it teaches us drills, ceremony, and things along those lines, pretty much, if you pass the APFT when we take it, with a very good score, you dont have to go to class. I doubt I will pass it the first time, but my goal to be able to get it, and I think I could. If we get a score of 270 -300 then we recieve a "coveted" BYU-I ARMY ROTC sweater. That's my goal. I'll break down the scoring system for you. Three excersizes of which all are scored out of 100 points. There is: The two mile run, push-ups, and the sit ups. I'm looking forward to this program, and I hope I improve myself and my scores quickly. I got to run, its midnight and I got a test to take. Call me peoples. Email me if you want my cell phone number, im pretty much at the laptop at any given time. I will end off on something witty or clever next time. I promise.

Welcome to the Jungle

So the time has come for me to blog. Today is day three of college life. So far I've gotten very little accomplished, but I expect that to be the usual. Today i had to do laundry (because I have very few clothes here to begin with) and realized, I know almost nothing about how to use an american washer. So I spent about 10 minutes of back and forth-ing it to the laundry room, until I finally was able to start the stupid thing.

I got my books this morning, including: Understanding Arabs, Softball rules, Raisin in the Sun, and An Enemy of the People. The last one is a play or something in a series of plays, I ended up having to borrow it from the library because they dont have it in stock yet. I've already cracked open the Understanding Arabs book and am thrilled to read it. So far they've talked about the irrationalities of American-thoughts of why they live the way they do and the thinking behind terrorist attacks of the Al-Qaeda.

Wearing long pants everywhere on campus is killing me, but it is already beginning to get cold, so in no time, im not gonna mind it. I'm waiting for three packages currently, two of clothes and such from England, and one from net10 (my cell phone provider) is sending me a new sim card, and I dont have a phone number until I get the card. It's driving me nuts not being able to call anybody, especially the guys in my apartment with a car. Well, I need to go throw my clothes in dryer, get some pictures developed, and buy a towel. I hope everybody writes to me soon, when I get my phone number I will be able to call everybody at the same price so, expect some chatting. Talk to you guys later!
